Hawkins Howle is our family genealogy site.

This is a work in progress.

Hawkins motto: Always ready!

Howle motto: Virtue in difficulty

The Hawkins & Howles originated from England (possibly from Ireland, Scotland, & Wales),  re-establishing the line in the US for centuries to come. From Virginia they spread across the widening plains of the continent, creating branches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Mississippi, Texas, Florida, and more. Our roots have a firm grip in South Carolina.

The Hawkins line has been traced back to John Hawkins born between 1725 and 1740, either in Virginia or South Carolina.

The Howle line has been traced back to Epaphroditus Howle born 1685, New Kent County, Virginia.

Other family names connected to our line are: Boswell, Boyce, Byrd, Chapman, Davis, DeWitt,  Jumper, Keith, McInvail,  Petty, Prestwood, Purvis, Sellers, Sparrow, Sumner, & Weatherford, and more.

The purpose of this site is to share our family with yours. Family trees, bibles, census records, coat of arms, signatures, photos...whatever I can find to add flavor to the site.

Hopefully you will find a connection and want to contribute, whether with data or questions.

Some sections you may find you are unable to access due to the contents having living relatives. Simply email administration to gain access.

'Ya'll come back now, hear?

Thank you to my sister, Mo,  and her husband, Tony, for providing this site.

Thank you, sis, for selecting a Mambo template, creating our Hawkins Howle logo, and for your patience in teaching this old dog a new trick.

Thank you Aunt Ginger & Uncle Charles for your combined efforts in providing all the accurate data to help create this site.

Thank you to cousins Jimmie Howle & Jeff Hawkins for their dedicated and thorough, extensive research into the family lines.

Any and all family photos are a combined effort between the families who have collected and saved a most precious treasure.

I want to thank any viewers who visit this site. It is hoped that we were able to help you with your family trees. And in advance, I want to thank anyone who contributes to the roots and limbs of our far reaching family tree.

For clarification, since I have things spread all over, and you as a viewer may not know what's what:

Family trees contains all the Hawkins & Howle family trees, including Byrd, Chapman, and any other surnames that may fall within those initial trees.

Memoirs are writings by family about family members, also funeral services.

Resources contains information gathered during research that are definitely family (unless I've mistakenly misplaced it!)

Look ups contains info that may or may not be family, but kept the research due to the surnames listed.

Progress is more or less my blog. It contains things About Me (and my sister) in the Digress section. Regress will contain silly things like Grandma's cures (not my grandma). and any other cute tidbits I might find.

Queries is for those who wish to participate, ask questions, etc

For my children I have started, and there's very little information there yet, their family trees. My daughter's tree is Medders and Dubberly. My son's tree is Bourne and Broome.

Oblea and Apala are my mother's small tree and her memories of our family.

Smith & Cooke are my Australian husband's family trees.
